China's largest bronzeware museum opens


A museum that boasts the country's largest collection of bronze ware has opened in Baoji, a historic city in the northwestern Shaanxi Province.

The Baoji Bronze Ware Museum has more than 1,500 rare antique pieces on display and entry is free. All the exhibits were unearthed in Baoji and dozens of them were listed by cultural heritage authorities as China's national treasure.

Baoji, a city with 3.8 million people, is known as the birthplace of China's ancient Zhou and Qin dynasties which existed 2,000 years ago. Most of China's priceless bronze ware pieces were unearthed there.
